Dear RSU 29 Families, At our January School Board meeting the district approved a slight change to the school calendar. On March 13th, we will be changing the planned workshop day into a regular student day. This is to make up for the student day we lost on December 11th, which we made a teacher professional day. We will have the planned early release day on March 12th with parent teacher conferences that afternoon/evening and a workshop day on March 14th. Please plan accordingly to be in school on March 13th. Thank you for your flexibility.

Due to inclement weather and our already scheduled early release day, today, December 11th will be a non student day and all staff will report at 10 am for Professional Development.

RSU 29 seeks Student Support Specialist for Houlton Southside School. Qualifications required: Bachelor's degree in education, counseling or related field. BHP certification preferred. Experience working with elementary school students. Responsible for: Student Support, Family Engagement, School Climate and Data Analysis and Reporting. Desired Skills: Certification in behavior management or counseling, understanding or training in RTI, MTSS specifically PBIS and restorative practices. Full job description available upon request. The class of 2025 will be hosting a Spaghetti Dinner and Dessert Auction at the Elks Club on December 5th at 5:30! If you are unable to join us in person but would still like to support the class, there will be a takeout option available. November 6th Presentation: On November 6th RSU 29 will welcome the Houlton Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Assistant District Attorney as guest speakers. Presentations will be held at the HMHS Auditorium at 1:00pm for grades 7-12 and 5:00pm for parents and community members. The topics will include bullying, harassment, cyber bullying, cyber crimes, sextortion, and understanding how to be safe online.

Dear RSU 29 Families and Community, Please see the attached files for RSU 29's response to the recent social media incident

Dear RSU 29 Families, an official RSU 29 response regarding a social media incident on 9/12 was shared with our staff, school board, and local school partners today (9/21). I was waiting until the Houlton Police Department investigation was complete. The HPD released their statement on 9/20. This event took place outside of RSU 29, but affected our students. We are continuing our Title IX investigation regarding this incident. and our tech staff will be posting the response to this website and Facebook page. Thank you for your patience as we worked through this issue with local schools and law enforcement. RSU 29 schools were safe from the onset, and we encourage any student that needs assistance to reach out to our counseling department.

RSU 29 is aware of the concerns of the community regarding a social media post from 9/12 that happened outside of our school, but affected our students. We have been actively investigating this situation from the start with law enforcement, other local schools, and our own internal Title IX investigation. We will release a full statement once the law enforcement investigation is complete. We will continue to support any student with available counseling and can assure our community that our schools are safe. More information will be released soon.
